April is National Poetry Month

Our genre for the month coincides with National Poetry Month. We will be studying poetry this month. We will be reading poetry together and learning to write several different types of poems. As part of our project, students are to find at least three published poems to copy, illustrate, and read aloud to the class. The poems they choose should mean something to them or inspired them in some way.

Here is a poem Hannah H. shared with the class and that she will read on the announcements one morning soon:
The Panther

The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.
